Knitting lace and brioche

After getting my knitting mojo back in August I have been making a couple of things. The first two I cannot show you yet, as the receiver did not get them yet, but at the moment I’m working on two other things. Coincidentally they are both scarves. They are very different, though.

The first scarf I started knitting is Spring, flowers and butterflies. It’s an Estonian lace-inspired design. I love knitting lace, especially with flawless and pristine white yarn. The scarf is knitted in two parts, then grafted in the middle. I have knitted the first half and have just started the second.

I’m not even sure if I’ll every really wear it. I just love knitting lace! My other project, on the other hand, will probably be worn more. It’s a simple brioche scarf, a fingering weight version of the BEBEB by Nancy Marchant. It’s basically two-colour brioche ribbing from beginning to end. Rather boring, but perfect TV knitting and toasty warm! I really love the multi that I’m using. It has very short rapports, and still is coherent somehow.

I’m using two skeins of Reskein yarn, the yarn that Cross & Woods (formerly known as Woool) dyed herself. I have started three projects with those yarns before this one, but they all didn’t work for one reason or the other. Now it finally decided what it wants to be when it grows up!

I’m not done knitting yet. I want to make some gloves for myself (possibly fair isle), and I want to make some presents for my family for Christmas. Two friends have just given birth, and I want to knit them something too. I don’t know if it’s all going to be possible, but I’m going to give it a try!
