Lately, I’ve been working on a nice cabled scarf for my husband, in Wollmeise DK, no less. Still, it’s quite a repetitive project, making good tv knitting, but otherwise, it’s rather boring. No surprise there that some small projects made it through!
First, my colleague with whom I share an office at work has given birth to a baby girl. I made her a little hat with a horse and the Chinese character for horse on it, since the little girl has a Chinese mother. A fun little project, and the hat even fit the baby (for now)!
On with the scarf, it started to get really long already. I got a bit bored and cast on another side project: the Who? hat, which is designed for a small amount of worsted yarn. I had this skein of delicious light pinkish handspun in my stash, with which I really wanted to knit something, and this hat seemed perfect for it. As I knitted, I found out that I had plenty of yarn (the pattern calls for 91-110 meters, I had 130, and I think I could have made it with 80), so I decided to make the hat extra long and slouchy. It just felt wrong not to use up as much as I could!
Now, the scarf for my husband is almost done (there’s already a whole skein of Wollmeise DK in it), and I’m thinking about designing matching mittens and a hat as well. I have plenty of yarn left and I think it would look great on him!
