Today I continued with my Winterscape painting. This is the fun part: after the initial sketch, you get to play with colours and blend them to your heart’s content! Which I did. I think this is the most blending I have done on a painting until now. It makes sense, though, to make the water look convincing, it should be quite smooth.
I added some extra detail that was not in the original picture: a Jacob’s Stairs. Somehow, the sky seemed to ask for that (and it’s quite common to see that under these circumstances: low sun, breaking through the clouds…). The Canson sand coloured paper added some warmth to the picture, which I tried to keep even though I’ve covered most of it. It still shines through a little bit, like a warm undertone.
This was so much fun to paint! I love my pastels 🙂
