Yesterday I finally had time and energy to draw again. I had been sick last week, and this week I started working again, which took up most of my energy, as I still felt a bit weak. It’s finally getting better, though.
I recently purchased some larger paper (until now I had been working on A4 size, the new paper is A3): Canson Mi-Teintes. It comes in blocks with paper of three colours: white, black and cream. I chose a cream sheet to start with. I wanted to paint a winter landscape from some years ago, where the IJssel (a river) had flooded the land and the trees were standing in the water. The light and clouds were very dramatic. It looked amazing.
I’ve made an initial sketch last night, with my Jaxells, and I will continue working on it with those a bit more, before finishing off with Sennelier/Schmincke. I think I may add some more colour, or drama, I don’t want to stay too close to the picture I have (otherwise, why paint it?). Tomorrow I have a day off, so I’m already looking forward to working on it again!
