In February 2012, I started knitting a pair of socks. I used the gorgeous pattern Sacre du Printemps, and really enjoyed knitting it. Well, the first sock, that is. That one was finished quickly… the second sock however, was not. I did start working on it immediately after knitting the first one, but I got bored. Other projects suddenly seemed much more interesting.
Between then and now, I did knit on that sock now and then. I managed to even turn the heel at some point. However, it still wasn’t finished. Until the karmameet. I had been knitting on the sock the day before, and only had about 4 centimeters to go. During the meet I knitted on (and then tinked back to fix all the mistakes). And in the evening, when I was home, tired, but still filled with adrenaline, I picked it up and finished it. More than one and a half year after starting the project.
I’m quite happy with them. The pattern is nice and intricate. However, the enormous time difference between finishing the socks has had an unexpected result: one of the socks is longer than the other, despite having just as many rows. My gauge has changed! I decided to ignore it and just enjoy their warmth.
