The final clue wraps the mystery shawl nicely together. Because of the Raveoly, I didn’t really get to finish the shawl yet, but now I’m halfway knitting the final clue. Before I started, I weighed my yarn, and I had about 50 grams of the dark blue yarn left, and only about 43 grams of the pinkish yarn. Actually, that amount would not be enough to finish the shawl! I thought a lot about how to approach this problem, because I didn’t want to frog anything if I didn’t have to, and then I came up with a possible solution. Since garter stitch is quite stretchy by nature, I thought I might get away with knitting the 4th clue on a smaller needle. I went down from 3,25mm to 2,75mm, and started knitting. I came awfully close to running out of yarn, but I made it! Now that I know that there’s going to be enough yarn, I can start the second wing of the shawl without stressing. Wing number 1 looks great and fortunately isn’t too tightly knit to my taste.
